A new use for hemp
Hemp is one of the newest fibres available for bed linen. As the fibre from the cannabis plant, it has been used for thousands of years as an industrial fibre, especially for ropes, sails and sacks. Modern technology means it’s now possible to process hemp and turn it into a blissfully soft fabric that’s perfect for bed linen. We love hemp because of its softness and luxurious drape. It’s also incredibly strong and long-lasting; it gets softer with every wash. -
Sleep more comfortably
As well as feeling wonderfully soft against your skin, Hemp has several other benefits. It has excellent temperature-regulating properties, making it a great year-round choice – warm in winter and cool in the summer. It also contains small amounts of chemical compounds that make the fibre naturally antibacterial and hypoallergenic. This makes it a great choice for allergy-prone sleepyheads. -
Peace of mind
Hemp has excellent environmental credentials. It’s a fast-growing crop that’s incredibly abundant – producing double the yield of cotton when using the same amount of land while using less water. Because hemp is so fast-growing, it crowds out weeds. This means farmers can avoid using large amounts of chemical weedkillers. -
Care for quality
This bed linen has gone through some serious testing with a special focus on colour fastness, durability and washability.

Look & Feel
- Luxuriously soft
This bed linen feels undeniably soft and incredibly supple, with a lightly textured handfeel similar to linen. It has a wonderful drape that’s cooling in the summer and warm in the winter.
- Relaxed charm
We’ve woven this hemp bed linen with a plain weave; it has a refined texture similar to Irish linen with fewer slubs than you might see on our French Linen range. Because of its ability to absorb moisture from the atmosphere around it, hemp has a lightly rumpled and creased charm. Hemp is an incredibly strong fibre and doesn’t ‘give’ in the same way as linen so it keeps its shape better with less ‘bagging’ than you’d expect to see on linen bedding.
- Traditionally styled
We’ve added a delicate hemstich detail to this bed linen range for a traditional finish. The duvet cover and Oxford pillow cases are hemstitched along the borders. The housewife pillow case has a hemstitched detail on the unfolded edge of the opening. The flat sheets are finished with hemstitching on the top edge creating a 5cm border. The fitted sheets are elasticated around the full edge of the sheet for a perfect fit.
- Signature ties
The duvet covers are fastened with tie closures so you don’t need to worry about ironing around fiddly buttons. Pillow cases have an envelope closure for a neat finish.
Care
For more information, visit our Bed Linen Care Guide
- 1
Pull back the covers
Pull back your duvet to air your bed while you’re getting ready for the day. This helps excess moisture to evaporate so your bed stays fresher and cleaner. - 2
Wash regularly
Keep your bed clean and fresh by changing and washing your bed linen regularly. Once a week is perfect. You can wash this bed linen at 40°C, although we’d recommend you wash it at 30°C for a greener way to stay clean. - 3
Hang to dry
Do your bit for our planet and dry your bed linen by hanging it to dry out of direct sunlight. It will dry best on an outside washing line. If time or space is tight, it can also be tumble-dried. You’ll have fewer creases to deal with if you remove your bed linen from the dryer while slightly damp and then hang it to air dry. - 4
No ironing necessary
The beauty of hemp is that it comes into its own when left unironed for a stylishly crumpled look. If you prefer a slightly smarter look then iron whilst slightly damp. - 5
Check your detergent
Always use the best detergent for the product you are washing. As this bed linen is undyed and unbleached we’d recommend powdered detergents. - 6
Avoid detergents and stain removers containing optical brighteners
They create an optical illusion that changes the appearance of the colour. It’s not just detergents that can affect your bed linen; some creams and face washes contain chemicals that will bleach your bed linen, such as benzoyl peroxide. Suncream and bronzers can also stain your bed sheets; having a shower before bed to remove skin products will help your bed linen stay looking good for longer.
